Home Health Aide

Home Health Aides are prepared to provide basic medical and non medical health related services for their clients in their homes, retirement communities, or assisted living facilities. Their scope of practice is governed by the state in which they live. Home Health Aide training in NY State covers the assistance an Aide can provide including vital signs check, some medication administration, and assistant with prescribed exercises.

Many RNs and LPNs were nurse aides or home health aides, they then use their training as a stepping stone for continued education and growth in healthcare and their careers.


Work Related Responsibilities

The Home Health Aide is in charge of the individual’s care as prescribed by the physician or directed by the Home care Nurse or licensed therapist. The HHA can care for a wide range of individuals to provide assistance with:

  • Personal hygiene
  • Housekeeping and laundry
  • Grocery shopping and meals preparation
  • Companionship and transportation to and from medical appointments
  • Physical and emotional support among other supportive tasks
  • Minor bandage changes as directed by nurse

75 hours classroom/lab and 8 hrs clinical …… total 83 hrs for 3 weeks Deposit at registration $100.00, this include the nonrefundable registration fee and supplies fee.

Nonrefundable registration fee: $50.00
Books, equipment and supplies: $50.00
Tuition, skills lab and clinicals: $500.00
Total(HHA Course) $600.00

Schedules

Class schedules: Monday through Thursday - (days) 9am – 4pm

Clinical: 8 hrs in resident’s home or Nursing Home, (1 day, 7am – 3pm) Monday to Saturday as agreed on by student and instructor.
